Cities worldwide are growing by 170.000 new people each day. In 2030 80 percent of the world population will live in urban areas. There is too little housing, employment, water, sanitation and electricity. And too much poverty, health problems, solid waste, pollution, violence and criminality. Therefore, the project Urban Matters was started.
Urban Matters is a new initiative of Cordaid and aims to work in a new way, by matching Dutch businesses, experts and institutes to local initiatives in three cities in Africa and Central America:

Urban Matters combines strengths of slum residents, organisations, private companies and professionals from both developing countries and the Netherlands.
